The Maria Concordia Project would not take place if not for a cooperation of some really passionate and like-minded people, willing to do something that has never been done before. See who's behind it!
3d guy by profession, cave diver by passion. I love the feeling of seclusion and isolation when solo cave diving, yet at the same time I always felt so tempted to share those experiences with the loved ones. Working with AR and VR on a daily basis made it easier for me to understand and overcome at least some of the basic challanges of underwater photogrammetry. Unlike wreck 3d scanning, underwater cave scanning is a huge unknown - things like gear setup, reconstrucion workflow, even the way we publish the reconstructed model - it’s all subject to trials and errors. Having said that, it’s a bit like cave exploration itself. I don’t know what’s behind the corner, but won’t rest until I find out.
3d content creator, underwater photographer. Professional problem solver. This man has the answer to literally any challenge. While diving team was working under water, Mateusz and Kamil were handling all the electronic equipment on the surface and documenting the whole operation.
“Staying at home is the greatest of all punishments” as he describes himself. A traveler and lover of every form of activity, scuba diving for 10 years. The overhead environment has been his main travel destination for a long time. He pursues his dream of being a reporter with a camera in an underwater housing searching underwater emotions and spectacular landscapes. His black drysuit and rebreather tubes might suggest he is a very serious technical diver, but colourful bungie inserts quickly dispel this impression ;)
Mikko is a passionate technical diver and explorer, always ready to explore and document the undiscovered underwater realm. Mikko started his professional dive career at the Ojamo mine back in 1998. Soon after, he moved to Thailand where he has been running ever since. Over the past decade, he has focused on documenting the underwater world through his camera. Mikko has been the camera man in numerous documentaries and films, latest being the Untold Arctic Wars, and has also featured on the other side of the lens in the “Sukeltaja” ("Diver"), "The Rescue" Nat Geo documentary and "The Cave" movie, . Mikko has also published a book “Sukellus valoon - Mikko Paasi and the incredible rescue operation”.
Firefighter by profession, CCR caver diver by passion. Bartek joined the photogrammetry data acquisition team after seeing the results of The Marie Agnes project. His unique mix of peace, composure and cheerfulness was a keeping up the spirits even in the most difficult moments.
He’s the one who taught me everything I know about underwater photogrammetry. Without his continuous support, this project would never take off. Mariusz has been working in the areas of photogrammetry, photography, education and digital humanities for many years. He is also a diving instructor. He undertakes innovative projects and always looks for new challenges.
In case you'd like to know more about photogrammetry (drone or underwater), reach out directly to Mariusz - his online courses are awesome.
Bartosz is a one man army when it comes to anything related to immersive technology. He's not only a creative 3d artist, but also a skilled Unreal Engine developer. His role is to make sure that the reconstructed photogrammetry model will be available in both Augmented and Virtual Reality.
